Precision FUE — natural results that last.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is the modern standard for surgical hair restoration. At Inside Out Medical Center in Fresno, individual follicular units are harvested one at a time from a stable donor area — usually the back and sides of the scalp — and placed into thinning or recessed areas using fine, angled micro-incisions.

Unlike older strip (FUSS) techniques, FUE leaves no linear scar, has minimal downtime, and allows the surgeon to design a hairline tailored to your facial structure, ethnicity, and how your hair is expected to age. Every graft is placed by hand to match the natural angle, density, and direction of your existing hair.

Common areas we treat:

  • Receding hairlines and temple recession
  • Thinning crown and bald spots
  • Beard, mustache, and facial hair restoration
  • Eyebrow restoration
  • Repair of prior transplant work or scarring

Why patients choose Inside Out.

01

Designed by a physician

Hairlines and density planning are done by Dr. Hernandez personally — never delegated to a technician.

02

Minimally invasive

No scalpel, no linear scar. Tiny extraction sites typically heal within 5–10 days.

03

Lasting growth

Transplanted follicles are taken from genetically resistant areas and continue growing for life.

04

Local & supported

Pre-op, procedure day, and follow-ups are all handled in Fresno — not overseas, not by a chain.

Candidacy

Is this the right treatment for you?

A consultation is the only way to know for sure — but here's how we generally evaluate candidacy.

Often a good candidate

  • Stable hair loss pattern (typically Norwood 2–6 in men, diffuse thinning in women evaluated case-by-case)
  • Healthy, sufficient donor area on the back and sides of the scalp
  • Adults generally 25 years and older — younger patients evaluated individually
  • Realistic expectations and willingness to follow post-op care
  • Good general health, no uncontrolled medical conditions

May not be ideal

  • Active, rapidly progressing hair loss without medical stabilization first
  • Insufficient donor density to support the desired coverage
  • Active scalp conditions (severe seborrheic dermatitis, infections, untreated alopecia areata)
  • Bleeding disorders or medications that cannot be safely paused
  • Unrealistic expectations of teenage-density restoration

How it works

A clear, supported process.

Step 1

Consultation & planning

Meet Dr. Hernandez to evaluate your hair loss, donor density, and goals. We design a hairline together and outline graft count, pricing, and timeline. Your $200 consultation deposit is credited toward your procedure.

Step 2

Procedure day

FUE is performed under local anesthesia in our Fresno clinic. Most cases run 4–8 hours depending on graft count. You're awake, comfortable, and can listen to music or watch a movie throughout.

Step 3

Recovery & growth

You go home the same day. Tiny extraction sites scab and heal over 5–10 days. Visible new growth begins around 3 months, with meaningful density at 6 months and final results at 9–12 months.

Recovery

What recovery actually looks like.

  1. Day 0–2

    Procedure & first night

Mild swelling and tightness. Sleep slightly elevated. Saline mist as instructed. Most patients are comfortable on Tylenol.

  2. Day 3–7

    Scabs form & shed

Tiny scabs form over each graft and gently flake away. Avoid swimming, gym, hats that touch the scalp, and direct sun.

  3. Week 2–4

    Shock loss

Transplanted hairs typically shed — this is normal and expected. The follicles remain and will produce new hair.

  4. Month 3–6

    New growth begins

Fine new hairs emerge and gradually thicken. You'll see steady, measurable progress month over month.

  5. Month 9–12

    Final result

Hair reaches full density, texture, and color match. Most patients style and treat the area exactly like native hair.

Honest expectations

What FUE can — and can't — do for you.

FUE is one of the most reliable cosmetic procedures in modern medicine, but it has real limits. We'd rather you hear them now than be disappointed later.

It can restore a natural-looking hairline, fill in thinning crowns and temples, and produce hair that grows for the rest of your life. It can also rebuild beards, brows, and scarred areas.

It can't create more total hair than your donor area allows. It won't stop future hair loss in untreated areas — which is why most patients pair surgery with medical therapy. And it isn't an instant result: full density takes 9–12 months.

For many patients, a second smaller procedure 12–18 months later refines density. We'll tell you upfront whether one or two sessions is realistic for the goal you have in mind.

Risks & limitations

An honest look at the limitations.

All medical procedures carry some risk. We discuss every relevant consideration before you commit — never after.

Swelling & redness

Mild forehead swelling and pinpoint redness in the first week is normal and resolves quickly.

Temporary shock loss

Some native hairs near the transplant area can shed temporarily. They typically regrow within months.

Scabbing & itching

Transient and managed with the post-op kit and instructions provided.

Infection (rare)

Very uncommon with proper post-op care; we monitor closely and prescribe if needed.

Donor area scarring

FUE leaves only tiny dot-like marks — usually invisible at standard hair lengths. Extreme buzz cuts may make them faintly visible.

Result variation

Final density and texture vary by patient biology. We set realistic expectations during planning, not after.

FAQs

Common questions.

Don't see your question? Call us at 559-940-6990 or book a consultation — every patient gets honest, direct answers.

How much does a hair transplant cost in Fresno?+

Cost depends on the number of grafts, the area treated, and complexity. We provide transparent, written pricing at your consultation. CareCredit financing is available, and most patients spread the investment across manageable monthly payments.

Does FUE leave a scar?+

FUE does not produce a linear scar like older strip (FUSS) methods. The donor area heals as tiny dot-like marks that are typically invisible at standard hair lengths.

Is the procedure painful?+

FUE is performed under local anesthesia. Most patients describe the experience as comfortable — the only sharp sensation is the initial numbing. Recovery discomfort is generally mild and well-managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.

When will I see results?+

Transplanted hairs typically shed in the first few weeks (this is expected). New growth begins around month 3, becomes meaningful around month 6, and reaches final density at 9–12 months.

How long does the procedure take?+

Most cases take 4–8 hours in a single day, depending on graft count. You stay comfortable and can eat, drink, and listen to music throughout.

Will I need more than one session?+

Some patients achieve their goal in a single session. Others — particularly those with advanced loss — benefit from a refinement session 12–18 months later. We'll tell you what's realistic at consultation.

Am I a candidate?+

A consultation with Dr. Hernandez is the only way to know for sure. We evaluate your donor density, pattern of loss, age, overall health, and goals — and give you an honest answer, including 'not yet' when appropriate.

Can women get FUE?+

Yes, in select cases. Female pattern hair loss has different considerations than male pattern loss; we evaluate each patient individually.

Will the transplanted hair fall out?+

No. Hairs are taken from genetically resistant donor areas, so they continue growing for life. However, untreated native hair in other areas can continue to thin — which is why many patients combine surgery with medical therapy.

Why have your transplant in Fresno instead of traveling abroad?+

Local care means your pre-op evaluation, procedure, and every follow-up are handled by the same physician. Complications — though rare — are easier to manage in person, and your aftercare is consistent.
